PROVERB

Proverb is a simple and concrete saying that expresses a truth based on common sense or the partical experience humanity.
A proverb is a short popular saying that gives advice about how people should behave or that expresses a belief that is generally thought to be true. Here are some examples:
“Art is long, life is short.”
Life is too short to learn all the art in this world.
 “Love me, love my dog”
If you love me, you must accept me as I am.
 “Blood is thicker than water”
Family relationship is stronger than others.
“Speak the truth and shame the devil” –
Avoid speaking lies to save any future problems.
            “A new broom sweeps clean”
A new person at a new position implements an aggressive and enthusiastic reform.
“If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” –
If something is working well, don’t try to improve upon it.
·         “Big is beautiful”
 Large size is advantageous.
·         “All that glitters is not gold” –
Everything that looks good is not necessarily good. Don’t judge things by looks
·         . “Desperate diseases demand desperate remedies
Big problems need bold and extremes steps to solve them.
“Every cloud has a silver lining”
Look for positivity in every tough situation.
  • Don’t cry over spilled milk.
  • Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
  • A stitch in time saves nine.
Like idioms, proverbs often have a meaning that is greater than the meaning of the individual words put together, but in a different way than idioms. The literal meaning of an idiom usually doesn’t make sense, and idioms can be almost impossible to understand unless you have learned or heard them before.
The literal meaning of a proverb such as “Don’t cry over spilled milk” does makes sense on its own, but it’s not until you apply this meaning to a broader set of situations that you understand the real point of the proverb. For example, “Don’t cry over spilled milk” means “Don’t get upset over something that has already been done. It’s too late to worry about it now, just get on with your life.”
So the dan proverb is speech that has meaning can still be traced or tracked the meaning of the element.
Example in Bahasa Indonesia:
  Seperti anjing dan kucing,
The meaning are dogs and cats when meet always fighting, never peaceful
Tong kosong nyaring bunyinya
maknanya adalah orang yang banyak omong, kalau kita lacak maknanya bahwa tong kosong kalau kita pukul mengeluarkan bunyi yang nyaring.( the meaning is a person who a lot of talking, if we track it means that the barrel is empty if we at loud noises.)
